Abstract
The study was to examine how self-efficacy and job satisfaction of both home care workers and those who employed in long-term service centers influence their turnover intention. Subjects were collected by convenience sampling throughout 25 home cares and long-term service centers(194 and 144 participants, respectively) from September to October, 2012. The results present as follows£ºfirst, the group of long-term care workers show certain characteristics compared to that of home care workers such as higher age, longer working experience, more amounts of monthly income, higher rate of full-time, working longer hours, and looking after more number of patients. Second, the self-efficacy and job satisfaction of long-term care workers is higher than those of home care workers, which leads to lower turnover intention in nursing facilities. Third, the most significant variable was job satisfaction in explaining the turnover intention of care workers in home cares as well as long-term service centers. The self-efficacy showed a positive impact on decreasing the turnover intention of home care workers through mediating job satisfaction. The study implies the importance of further interventions to enhance job satisfaction and self-efficacy and reduce care workers` turnover rate.
